Sunday, March 6, 2022 — Stitches West 2022 Morning Update

Good Morning! And welcome to the last day of Stitches West 2022 and the last edition of the Stitches West Morning Update.

The weather today in Sacramento, CA shows a pretty clear day, a projected high of 63°, and a projected low of 35° (but that will be mostly very early morning).

It looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day for our last day in Sacramento, CA.

Classes will be running from 9:00am–12:00pm PST and 1:30pm-4:30pm PST. If you’re interested in seeing which classes may still have spots open, please check out our list of Stitches West 2022 classes here.

Of course, if you’re onsite and you want to check available classes—or if you are registered and want to pick up your badge, today… you can go up the escalators and see our good folx at the Stitches Registration Desk. The Stitches Registration Desk will be open from 8:30am-2:00pm PST.

Please remember that anyone taking a class, attending a special event, or attending the Market must show proof of double vaccination and wear a mask while inside at the show as per our posted policy statements.

The Stitches West 2022 Market will be open today from 10:00am-4:00pm PST. Admission to the Market is FREE on Sundays!

You can download a copy of the the Stitches West 2022 Show Book PDF here. You can download a PDF copy of the Stitches West 2022 Market floor map here. And since every exhibitor at this show has their very own online show book page, you’ll want to check out those listings here.

Friday’s Fashion Show was a real hit. Before the show started, I announced that I would be starting a fundraiser in the next week to help Karida from NFC get her community center up and running. Please be on lookout for more information.

The Fashion Show was brilliant. Fontelle Jones and Barry Klein did a fantastic job of moderating the show. Our dressers and our models were excellent. Rick Mondragon out did himself with the styling. And GG joined our modeling team… I’m sure you could hear the cheers from across town.

Last night’s Stitches Makers’ Showcase was also a blast. Watching all of you so proudly walk the runway—showing off your wonderful creations—always humbles me.

I want to thank everyone who shared. I want to thank Rick and Nathania for hosting this event. I want to thank Kellie for taking all the photographs. I want to thank all the instructors, staff, and volunteers.

We had two special meetups yesterday… and Yelley sent us some pix to share...

These meetups were hosted by yelley (she/they), a knitter, crocheter, spinner, maker in the San Francisco Bay Area, working to promote diversity and inclusiveness in the fiber arts world. Her goal is to create safer and more accessible spaces for marginalized folx (BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Neurodivergent, Disabled, all kinds of marginalized folx!) through representation, visibility, and community building events. She lives in Alameda, California, with one of her partners, their very spoiled dog, and a ridiculously large stash of purple and rainbow yarn. Find her on Ravelry and Instagram @yelleyknits. Thank you, Yelley!

Here is an update of what we can expect Rick to be wearing today…

Today will be a blue jeans & Noro day!

Never underestimate the value of a knit vest, a white shirt, or black T-shirt.

Here are today’s Market Highlights…

That’s it for now. We’ll be back in Sacramento, CA next year… March 2-5, 2023. We also have another in-person show scheduled for November 10-13, 2022 in Pasadena, CA. In the meantime please check out our upcoming April Stitches At Home virtual event.

Thank you, ALL, for a wonderful weekend!

All my best.
