An in-person class with Lily M Chin

Aug 4, 9:00am-12:00pm

Create crochet pieces worked back and forth without the “wrong side” ridge! Traditional a ridge appears on both sides of your work when you work flat, and you probably thought it inevitable. Lily moves all the ridges to the WS by working a backwards Flip stitch on the WS; no RS ridges.

Description

Crocheting a flat piece back and forth results in every other row showing a ridge. This results in horizontal bands that all too often do not flatter, even in fancier stitches such as Shell Stitch and Seed Stitch. When working circularly (in the round) with only the Right Side facing, there is no ridge. Instead, the fabric will bias or torque and the stitches don’t line up vertically.

RS ridges need no longer be a problem. Yes, there is indeed a solution, and it’s a fairly simple one employing what Lily calls Flip stitches. We’ll try it out, not only on the basic stitches, but also on a few fancier patterned stitches as well.

You’ll leave class having learned how to crochet back and forth and produce a fabric that is smooth on one side and textured on the other! Stitches will line up vertically. Yes, it’s really that revolutionary!
