Description
You will make pieced strips with scrap fabric and then sew them together to create the whirligig project bag. The pieced strips and unusual construction give Whirligig its dynamic diagonal design.
We will add handles and lining, and everyone will have a functional bag to carry and store sewing and knitting projects and all of those future scraps! Machine or hand stitching for this project — it’s your choice.
Special Skills
Must be comfortable with either hand and machine stitching.
Must be able to create a 1/4 inch seam
Supply List
• Fabric scraps to make four 5 x 20 inch pieces for outer bag
• Fabric to make four 5 x 20 pieces inch for lining (can also be pieced scraps)
• Fabric to make two 3 x 10 inch pieces for handles
• Patchwork/Quilting Basics: Needles, thread, Sharp scissors, Notebook, Pen or pencil with eraser, Tape measure, Seam ripper, Pins, Rotary cutter, Mat and ruler
No pre-class work required.
