Reimagine Color: Intuitive Overdyeing, the Art of Dyeing Over Base Color
A virtual class with Esther Rodgers
Feb 11, 2:00-4:00pm
Feb 12, 2:00-4:00pm
Feb 18 2:00-4:00pm CST
Have you ever looked at your stash of yarn, fiber, or finished objects and felt uninspired by some colors? Let Esther show you the magic that can happen when you over-dye!
Class sessions will be recorded and remain accessible online to registered students of the class for 4 weeks following the event.
We will dive deep into color, learning how additional layers of color are affected by the base color. You will see how the color wheel can help guide you through possibilities and limitations of changing one color into another. They do not always play well together the wheel gives you a hint of where a dye bath might take you.
Using simple tools like a crock pot, induction burner, or electric roaster, students will review the essential elements of dyeing protein fibers. Learn the techniques Esther uses to achieve a successful dye strike and maintain the integrity of the protein fiber.
Overdyeing gives you an opportunity to re-shop, refresh, or reimagine your yarn and fiber stash, and to pull out those woolen items you don’t wear and turn them into something you will love and use!
