Technicolor Double Knitting

Double Knitting provides you with a stockinette fabric on both sides. We will cover ways to add more color to your Double Knitting projects including using the same third color on both sides, different colors on either side, and more than three colors.

We will discuss the different approaches to working flat, and in the round — think scarves, hats, and cowls. you will learn how to use the additional color sparingly or throughout the whole project. The final thing we will cover is charts, reading the ones provided in class and the ones you make yourself.

Special Skills
Students must have experience with Double Knitting and knitting in the round. Jill’s Friday class, The Very Basic of Double Knitting, is perfect preparation for Technicolor Double Knitting.

Supply List
• Several colors of worsted-weight yarn
• US 6 or 7 (4 or 4.5mm) needles. This class will have samples worked flat and in the round. Be sure to have appropriate needles to work small swatches in the round: DPNs, 2 circulars or magic loop.
• Knitting Basics: Sharp scissors, Notebook, Pen or pencil with eraser, Stitch markers, Tapestry needles (large and small), Tape measure, Small calculator, Needles and crochet hooks of various sizes
Optional – Yarn Guide (made by Clover or Knitting Thimble (made by Addi) and colored pencils to match your yarn colors.
