Double Up Heddles on the Rigid Heddle Loom

Price includes 12 hours of class.

An in-person class with Deborah Jarchow

Nov 10, 9:00am-12:00pm & 1:30-4:30pm; Nov 11, 9:00am-12:00pm & 2:00-5:00pm PST

Over the 12 hours of class, you’ll learn to weave with 2 heddles, weaving fabric that is twice the width of your loom, or making double layers in your cloth (think pockets!).

In stock

Expand your skills and weave two layers in your cloth on the rigid heddle loom. While weaving, the layers can connect in various ways to make cloth twice the width of your loom or to create tubes and pockets. During the workshop, we’ll learn to thread the loom using two heddles and weave the layers in various ways. Make a sampler while exploring this process.

First, we’ll warp our looms and learn how to set up and thread both heddles for double-heddle weaving. Then we will weave cloth at double the sett of the heddle used and create various beautiful patterns that the extra heddle makes possible. While working these beautiful patterns, we will practice manipulating the two heddles. We will learn how to magically create 2 layers of cloth, each a different color, and discover how to make pockets or tubes in the woven cloth.

Double heddle

Fun class ... No way to do it less than 2 full days. Deborah always makes learning fun & she is willing to adapt the class to what the students want to learn. Do download your class instructions! Deborah's instructions are in-depth & you will need to use them isn class & in the future. Everyone was tired by the end of the last session but we learn a lot about different patterns, making different direction pockets, & doubling up the width of the weaving material.
