Stacked stitches are a type of increase and decrease used to create vertical movement within a row and form extreme, wavy stripes without stranding on the wrong side of the piece or the use of other traditional colorwork methods. After an introduction to the basic principles of this technique, we will cast on a scarf or swatch and discover how each row of stitches fits together to form a flat fabric.

The first session is dedicated to the building blocks of the technique and swatching. Students will have a chance to choose their own color configuration and create a custom stripe order, and there is time between the two sessions for shopping in the marketplace.

In the second session, students will finish their swatches and move on to a full-sized project. We will learn how to move markers, keep track of stitch count, and fix mistakes in a stack pattern. We will also learn to weave in ends at the end of each color stripe to save time during finishing.

Supply list
• Worsted-weight scrap yarn in multiple colors, and 3+ colors of
fingering-weight yarn for those who want to start the scarf project
• Circular needles with a flexible cord in a corresponding size to your yarn and a few adjacent sizes (metal or plastic needles are strongly recommended)
• Stitch markers.

• Scratch paper
• Highlighter tape
• A digital row counter.
Patterns are provided by instructor.

Amazing and so FUN

Xandy was extremely personable, explained things very well and she made our class fun! I learned a new skill and left understanding exactly how to do everything in the class and MORE as Xandy took time to explain other techniques and gave us useful tips to make things easy for us. Will definitely look forward to attending more classes in the future with Xandy!!!

Xandy was amazing.....clear, knowledgeable and fun! This technique is amazing. I must say it made my head hurt a bit, but I absolutely loved what can be done with multiple increases and decreases. Stunning technique.

Loved it

Pacing was great. I'd taken Stacked Stitches with Xandy in the past but felt that this time I really got it in a different way. Tying it to a project makes it more likely for me to do it and this feels much more manageable than trying to start with Fox Paws. Also, I have lots of fingering yarns in stash so...
