Sunne loves to make her clothes in Alabama Chanin’s The School of Making style! Our extended time together allows time to take you through the entire process as you create your own journal cover.
Sunne will start with the physics of sewing, talk about the materials, and why these specific supplies are used, then go on to help you explore stitches and construction techniques as you create your own journal cover
You’ll move quickly to design choices for the journal cover, and start to sew. You’ll learn straight stitch, some decorative stitches, how to chart decorative stitches on your work, and make decisions about what to cut or how to sew additional embellishment as you go.
Finally, you will construct your finished cover around the included journal. All the skills from this class are easily transferable to other garments and hand-sewn projects or The School of Making kits.
Class includes a $51 kit fee which will be added to your cart at checkout and include 2 layers of organic cotton medium-weight fabric, one journal, one spool of button craft thread, all packaged in The School of Making bag with a ribbon tie. You will receive a follow up email to select the color way of your kit. There are limited quantities of each color way available in 1. Natural/White, 2. Baby Blue/Dove or 3. Black/Earth (there are images of each color way shown here). They will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
NOTE: Due to time and shipping constraints, kits are not available to people living outside the United States.
