Learn how to draft your own skirt pattern from your measurements, how to make and fit a muslin, and then stitch up your skirt!
If you sew, but are frustrated trying to find patterns you like (that also fit you well), you might want to try drafting your own. It’s not as hard as you think! In this workshop, you will learn how to take your own measurements and draft a pattern for a simple, classic A-line skirt, using your own unique body size and shape. We will also cover a few pocket and waistband options. Then you will cut it out and sew it up! You will learn how to sew darts, seams and seam finishes, hems, invisible zippers, and bias-tape facings, all of the elements you need to begin making your own clothes. Once you’ve made your first, you’ll see how many possibilities there are are for all sorts of modifications. You might never buy another skirt again!

Students must have at least competent beginner sewing skills (i.e. a few simple projects under your belt) and be comfortable with their machine. Some homework will likely be necessary in order to complete the project.
