Reward yourself by learning simple fit and style rules that you can apply to any pattern. Jane will share the tips and tricks she uses to adjust the fit of her designs for different clients’ needs.
We love to knit, combining beautiful yarns, colors, and techniques. Yet how many times do we wish our garment fitted slightly better? Adjusting fit can be as simple as narrowing the shoulder or building the slightest touch of an A-line into the silhouette. Knowing where and how to place and achieve these changes doesn’t require major math.
Jane Slicer-Smith has been designing for over 30 years, selling ready-made and made-to-order handknits, kits, and patterns. Heading her team of knitters has given her insight to consider the knit-ability of each design—basically what works and what doesn’t— and she will share them with you in this invaluable lecture-style class. Just one example, Signatur Handknits designs incorporate front button bands knit-as-one with the garment front, reducing finishing and the risk of UFO’s.
Jane trained in the UK in fashion and textiles, studying patternmaking, and thinks and designs as both a dressmaker and a hand knitter. Her approach to design focuses on a flattering style and fit for different body types.
