Description
Enjoy hand stitching in this extended class using a carefully curated kit with all the materials you need, including beautiful hand-dyed embroidery threads and recycled sari silk.
Begin with tips for choosing motifs suitable for embroidery and tracing one of the designs supplied in your kit onto a fabric square. Learn or be reminded of traditional embroidery stitches as we work on your design, beginning with chain stitch and including unique embellishment ideas. Folk Art doesn’t have to be perfect!
Time between sessions means you can relax with your stitching until class reconvenes to work on our backgrounds. Baste the supplied silk square with the batting and backing and try some bold hand-quilting inspired by traditional Indian Kantha stitching.
Simple steps will turn your embroidery into a stand-alone appliqué piece ready to add to your fabulous backdrop which can be finished by mounting your project on a stretched canvas or making it into a pillow.
There will be time to answer all your hand-stitching questions as everyone sews together. Leave the class ready to finish your piece and eager to start the next one.
A kit is required for this class. The $47 kit fee will be added to your cart at checkout.
