This class is colorwork in a nutshell! You’ll learn it all: how knit and purl in colorwork and how to work a Norwegian braid as you make these cosy slippers.
Class sessions will be recorded and remain accessible online to registered students of the class for 14 days following the event.

Description
Welcome to the Scandiwork slipper class. We will make the Stjerne Slippers featured in Kristen’s book, The Nordic Knitting Primer. You will learn and master all the skills you need to conquer any colorwork project in this small project. With sessions scheduled over two weekends, here is time to complete at least one slipper.
We will cover:
Continental knitting and purling
English knitting and purling
Gauge and tailor fitting a pair of slippers
Longtail cast-on (and estimating how much yarn you need)
Two-color long-tail cast-on
Knitting and purling in colorwork
Yarn dominance
Catching floats with the main color and with the contrasting color
Decreasing in colorwork (SSK and K2tog and when to use which in colorwork)
Increasing in colorwork
Chart reading while knitting and purling
DPN skills
Flexiflip skills
Tvinnarand skills
Slipper assembly (hand-sewing skills)
Single (double) crochet edge
Colorwork tips and tricks
Felting
We will also talk about Norwegian symbolism in knitting.
Special skills or knowledge needed to take this workshop:
Basic knitting skills. If you can knit and purl, you can take this class.
Supply list
• US 4 (3.5 mm) DPNs or Flexiflips or size to obtain 24 stitches over 4 inches for Women’s 6-8 slipper (US Size 3 for a smaller slipper, US Size 5 for a larger women’s Slipper)
• DK-weight or (Worsted-Weight) yarn in 3 colors.
70 (85) yds of a main color, 70 (85) yds contrast color, and 6 (8) yards of a second contrast color for a woman’s slipper
Knitting Basics: Sharp scissors, Notebook, Pen or pencil with eraser, Stitch markers, Tapestry needles (large and small), Tape measure, Small calculator, Needles and crochet hooks of various sizes
Note: Kristin used Rauma strikkegarn a 3-ply 100% Norwegian Wool (114 yards per 50 g skein) in 105 Charcoal (MC), 101 off-white (CC 1), and 128 Red (CC2) for her women’s slipper, and Harrisville Designs Highland Worsted 100% Virgin Wool (200 yards per 100-g skein) in Charcoal (MC), Off-white (CC 1), and
Red (CC2).
