Description

Designed for jersey/tricot knits, Anna features two front bodice options — one with a bust dart for D-cup and larger bust sizes and a dart-less version for C-cup or smaller bust sizes. We’ll use your body measurements to pick out the best size, then Jennifer will show you how to customize the pieces for the best fit. (sizes range from 36-52″)

A basic machine is really all that you need; no stretch stitches are necessary. Jenn gives tips and tricks to get great results sewing knit fabric with either your sewing machine or serger, including an easy technique for finishing a V-Neckline. If you prefer to hand-stitch your knits, that’s ok, too. Whatever way you sew it, the Anna Dress is sure to be a go-to summer favorite, whether you make 1, 2, or 3!

Special skills or knowledge needed to take this workshop:

Great class!

This class is SO GOOD! Jen is an outstanding teacher and really takes the time to make sure you have a dress you're happy with by the end of class. Yes, you heard that right, you will have a FINISHED garment by the time class is over!

My only recommendation is that you get a product called Terial Magic in addition to the class supplies. It's a spray that keeps your fabric from curling up and it makes it so much easier to cut and sew knit fabric. Jen recommended it in class and it saved my sanity since my fabric was curling up like mad.

Great Class

The Anna Dress is a well-written pattern - simple classic style, all while being very flexible in choice of length, sleeve and neckline. Jennifer is a very knowledgeable teacher and thoughtfully responded to all questions and "issues." She carefully explained and showed how to get the fit "just right" to individual preference. I thoroughly enjoyed her class and look forward to her next one.

Finally, a dress that fits - WITH POCKETS!

As somebody who is a nonstandard size and shape, I loved learning ways to make the pattern fit ME. Where other patterns say "make a dart here", Jenn explains how to get the dart in the correct location and without looking like a 1950's rocket cone. The ability to have a comfortable dress that looks polished and professional, instead of casual, is key for me because even from the waist up I need to project a corporate image, and now that we are traveling again it's great to have a new wardrobe that packs well and feels great. I liked being able to get the waist where it needs to be, the sleeves just right for me, and add POCKETS. Plus all the tips that Jenn passes along for sewing and fitting almost anything (ignore the neckline in the photo, I measured wrong and Jenn told me at Show-and-Share how to fix it), and adjusting the length of the pattern to make a full wardrobe of options that don't look like you purchased a dozen of the same item.

Highly Recommend the Anna Dress Class

This is an excellent class for almost any level of sewist. All the members of our class were able to complete a dress that was flattering and well fitting. However, not only did I learn how to make this dress, the skills I learned in the class I am able to apply to other garments I am working on. Jennifer is an excellent teacher. She is patient, explains everything in detail, will explain it again until everyone understands the instructions. She also has a video library to access and shares resources to continue making garments.
I highly recommend this class and Jennifer Sterns as an instructor.
