Get an inside look at the professional’s design process as you learn to create your own couture sweaters. Jim will help you begin to develop design concepts, benefit from the predictions for design and color trends, and learn how you might incorporate them in your knitting and wardrobe. The class is filled with illustrations, samples, and exercises for inspiration and yes, the math along with technical essentials as well.
Part 1, Inspiration & Concepts: How designers for major brands create collections
Part 2, Design Decisions: How to describe your sweater concept, consider the principles of design, define design specs, and create the schematic.
Part 3, How to make technical decisions guided by your swatch and sweater concept.
Special skills or knowledge needed to take this class:
Solid basic knitting skills.
__Ball of smooth, light colored, DK- or worsted-weight yarn
__Appropriate size needles
__Knitting Basics: Sharp scissors, Notebook, Pencil with eraser, Stitch markers, Tapestry needles (large and small), Tape measure, Small calculator, Needles and crochet hooks of various sizes
