Description

This master class is about using texture from sequence knitting, fiber blending through fine striping or marling, and color choices to make beautiful fabrics.

There will be both lecture style-learning and extensive swatching between sessions when you can explore these ideas with your own yarns. You do not need to know about sequence knitting ahead of time as it will be explained, but if you have already taken classes on sequence knitting, this will be an opportunity to explore it in more depth, using it as one aspect of fabric invention.

Special skills or knowledge needed to take this class:
You should be very comfortable working in knits, purls, increases, decreases, casting on, and binding off.

Supply List
__One ball of solid, smooth yarn in a light color in the weight you most prefer to knit and that you want to use in your own knitting. Some examples of wool yarns that would work, listed from thinner to thicker, are Isager Tvinni, Knit Picks Palette, Brooklyn Tweed Arbor, or Kelbourne Woolens Germantown. In cotton, some examples are BC Garn Alba, Krea Deluxe Organic Cotton, Kelbourne Woolens Mojave, and Rowan Summerlite 4ply.
__Also have a couple small balls in different colors or textures – scraps from stash are encouraged.
__Have knitting needles in a range of sizes centered around the size you expect to be using. This is easiest with an interchangeable set, which has the added advantage of consistent tip types.
__Knitting Basics: Sharp scissors, Notebook, Pen or pencil with eraser, Stitch markers, Tapestry needles (large and small), Tape measure, Small calculator, Needles and crochet hooks of various sizes
