Description

German Short Rows involve no wraps, pins, or other accessories. At the short-row turn, the yarn is slipped to create a double stitch. This double stitch is a real ugly duckling, visibly bigger than all the surrounding stitches. However, just as the ugly duckling transformed into a beautiful swan, the double stitch, when worked in a subsequent row, transforms, filling the short-row gap beautifully on the front and back of your work.

Learn to work German Short Rows in stockinette and garter stitch as you make a coffee koozie. Learn how to fix them if the unthinkable happens and your double stitch goes rogue. Finally, the class will also cover places to use German Short Rows, how they compare to other short-row methods, and how to substitute them in patterns, including a new side-by-side comparison of substituting in a short-row heel.

Can I give it 10 stars?

I LOVED this class! After an introduction to German short rows in a different class, I wanted to know more. This is the class that transformed my ability and enthusiasm for this method and short rows in general. Laura is a patient and very knowledgeable teacher.

Just the right amount of info....

This class was just right....not too long, not too short. It covered the essentials of German Short Rows - and even how to fix them if you make a mistake. I've been using them before this - but always had some issues. This resolved them - and I'm ready to go forward with fewer worries.

Short rows improved

There are quite a number of ways to do a short row and some are better than others. Some give different effects than others and some are more visable than others. The German short rows are great with garter stitch. I really like the German Short Rows and another tool in my Toolbox of Knitting

Well paced, great handouts

Suggest the first section is homework for the next session so,more time can be spent on techniques.

Appreciated learning how to fix mistakes, including illustrations
