A virtual class with Thamo Hurly
May 14, 10:00am-12:00pm &
May 15, 10:00am-12:00pm CDT
Handmade socks aren’t just for knitters! Crocheted socks are thick, cozy, and fairly quick to make once you know all the parts. Learn to crochet a basic sock from toe to cuff.
Class sessions will be recorded and remain accessible online to registered students of the class for 14 days following the event.
We’ll cover all the basics of how to crochet a sock from the toe up. We’ll go over a double-sided foundation row, increases, working in the round, and making a short-row heel. We’ll also learn how to add in other colors (like a contrast toe/heel or stripes at the cuff) for an equally straight-forward but more visually interesting sock.
Special skills or knowledge needed to take this class:
Participants should be comfortable with basic crochet skills: chain stitch, single crochet, and double crochet.
• DK-weight sock yarn (less that a full skein or multiple mini-skeins are ok as we will practice making a small-sized sock)
• 3.5mm/Size E crochet hook
• Removable stitch markers or safety pins
Crochet Basics: Sharp scissors, Notebook, Pen or pencil with eraser, Stitch markers, Tapestry needles (large and small), Tape measure, Small calculator, Crochet hooks of various sizes
