Sweaters look best when they fit our shoulders — and accommodate our chests. Learn life-changing techniques for those of us with larger chests: to choose a size, plan, and knit both vertical and horizontal bust darts for YOUR chest.

Class sessions will be recorded and remain accessible online to registered students of the class for 14 days following the event.

This 4-session workshop provides time to understand and apply Kim’s process for achieving sweaters that fit — at both shoulders and chests.

Learn how to choose a size and how to plan and construct bust darts for YOUR body. We will use examples that are based on a set-in-sleeved sweater, worked in pieces, to make the process easy-to-understand. Bring yarn and needles; you will knit a quarter-size sample of what YOUR darts will look like in a real sweater.

Topics covered in this class:
– how to measure yourself accurately for bust-shaping
– creating a map for YOUR darts, vertical and horizontal, so that you can apply them to any sweater
– what to do when darts aren’t practical (alternate bust-shaping)
– what to do with extra stitches so that the upper body of your sweater also fits well

This hands-on learning experience gives you choices for modifying any sweater pattern — and that can be life-changing!

Special skills or knowledge needed to take this workshop:
Must understand how a basic sweater is constructed.

Great class to learn about sweater construction and fit

I really enjoyed this class! I not only learned about modifications, but I also learned a lot about sweater design in general. The pacing is well done to teach new techniques while giving time to practice math and ask lots of questions, knit a sample over the week, and then bring any remaining questions back the following weekend. Kim is kind, patient, and clearly knows a lot about sweater knitting, fit, and a wide range of body sizes/types!

So useful!

I’m so glad that I heard about this class. Kim is very knowledgeable and conscious of all types of busts and sweaters. This class walks through taking your measurements in the right places to alter sweater patterns to fit your particular upper body. I am now confident that I can re-knit a failed sweater and address the issues that looked like a shoulder problem- but is actually a matter of choosing a smaller size and making the bust bigger. Fabulous class, highly recommended!

Boob Camp

This class is great for learning how to fit garments. Learning where to place darts, and what kind of darts to use for different body types helped me a lot. By choosing your size according to your upper body measurement your garment will fit at the shoulders.
Kim knows all about this fitting and is generous in teaching it to us.
I’m looking forward to taking her classes on “Buns and Bellies “ and “Out on a Limb “. Please schedule these classes next.
