Join Laura for a targeted series of exercises for knitters, crocheters, and weavers who are ready to explore color effects and want to delve into creating powerful color combinations.
You’ll each work with a kit of 24 carefully curated mini-skeins that make it possible for you to explore the entire color spectrum in both medium and dark colors; with options to augment from your own yarn stash.
Exercises are unique to this session, with an emphasis on personal exploration and development. We’ll look at creating successful analogous and accented combinations; optical mixtures; dynamic stripes, and exciting two- and three-color pattern stitches.
Worked in five 2-hour sessions, each including a review of the previous session’s work, student by student, and instruction for the next assignment, illustrated with multiple samples. The knowledge and confidence you gain from these discussions will enliven all of your textile work.
You’ll discover the creative tool that swatching can be!
Special skills or knowledge needed to take this class:
Must be able to complete a sample swatch in two hours; you can let your own skill level guide your swatch choice. Weavers can warp their loom with a neutral gray yarn 4-6 inches wide and weave along.
A kit is required for this class; the $75 kit fee will be added to your order. The kit will include 24 colors in .5 oz/30-yd hanks of Prism Symphony, merino/cashmere/silk blend, dk-weight.
NOTE: Due to time and shipping constraints, kits are not available to people living outside the United States.
