Does hand-spinning seem mysterious to you? Heavenly shares the secrets and magic of using a drop spindle. She has selected fiber and a spindle for you, and you can begin turning that fiber into your own hand-spun!
In this three-session beginner’s class, we’ll discuss everything you’ll need to know to get started spinning your own yarn.
Topics we will dive into include: how the drop spindle works, the importance of spin direction, and basic knowledge about handling various fiber types for spindling.
Then you’ll learn how to get off to a good start with the spindle by using the park-and-draft method before moving on to suspended spindling and learning how to wind on the cop.
When you come back after a week of practice, you’ll learn to ply your newly spun yarn and discuss ways to finish it.
Whether you have experience with a spinning wheel or are brand-new to spinning as a whole, come join Heavenly. She has chosen fiber and a spindle for you. You can get it spinning and begin creating your very own handspun yarn!
A kit is required for this class; the $20 kit fee will be added to your order. The kit will include top-whorl spindle and 2 oz of fiber..
NOTE: Due to time and shipping constraints, kits are not available to people living outside the United States.
