It really isn’t a quilt until it has been quilted! You may have tried before and ended up frustrated, not very happy with the results…

Catherine will take you through all the necessary steps for success in using your domestic sewing machine to complete your quilts – and being happy with the result.

Her secret? Let your walking foot do the work.

We will start with a discussion of Catherine’s steps for success, to include choosing your thread, machine needles, and batting. Learn how to prepare your tops for quilting with good pressing and basting technique. Decide if and how you want to mark your quilt top.

Working on small quilt sandwiches, you’ll stitch samples of different styles including simple straight lines, matchstick quilting, grids, combined stitches and serpentines, moving on to beautiful organic curves. Learn how to execute sharp turns and make accurate straight-line square and irregular polygon spirals before stitching a stunning circular spiral.

Along the way there will be tips on adding color with your quilting and even a little hand embellishment.

Finish with a look at Catherine’s work to inspire you to go home and turn your tops into quilts.
