After starting with the physics of sewing and why to choose organic cotton jersey, we’ll move on to the why behind the thread used and how to tie the strong knots needed when we sew clothing. Then we will learn best practices for cutting and seams.
This understanding prepares us to explore design elements with the two layers of cotton jersey, focusing on reverse appliqué and negative reverse appliqué paired with running stitch and back stitch.
This hands-on class touches on the points that will allow you to dive into projects and explore stitching in the style of Alabama Chanin’s The School of Making.
