Toe Up Socks that Fit!
With André de Castro
Aug 7, 1:00-3:00pm & Aug 8, 1:00-3:00pm CDT
Learn how to knit toe-up socks for a perfect fit, for any size.
Class sessions will be recorded and remain accessible online to registered students of the class for 14 days following the event.
The sock-knitting world is divided between toe-uppers and top-downers. Spend a few hours with André on the toe-up side. It’s really the sock equivalent of a top-down sweater. All the interesting (complicated) stuff happens first, leaving great carry-along knitting for later. When in doubt, you can try it on as you go to check the fit. TU can also help with yarn limitations.
André will teach the process using the Magic Loop, but you do not need to knit Portuguese-style.
You’ll learn how to:
– Take proper the measurements from YOUR foot.
– Cast on for toe-up socks.
– Incorporate design elements in toe-up socks.
– Work a short-row heel.

Be comfortable with the basics of knitting and know how to work with a Magic Loop (if you haven’t tried this valuable skill, Lorilee Beltman’s Mastering Magic Loop on Friday will get you ready).
