The Crocheted NEWS Sweater
With Lily Chin
Aug 7, 10:00am-12:00pm CDT
The NEWS garment construction has you work a sweater in 4 directions. This playful approach provides easy options to ensure the fit you want and encourages creativity.
Class sessions will be recorded and remain accessible online to registered students of the class for 14 days following the event.
NEWS stands for North, East, West, South. This multi-directional crochet garment requires no pattern.
From the school of “divide and conquer” or one bite at a time, this construction is addictive, spontaneous, and fun — and requires very little preplanning. Each section builds on the previous one. Because it is basically made modularly, you can change your mind and your direction along the way and easily make revisions.
Start with a front and back panel, build out to the sides, working until it is wide enough. Try it on every step of the way to ensure fit.
Continue with sleeves, if desired. Again, try it on and work the sleeves until they are long enough.
Try different patterned stitches in each section without worrying about matching gauges. The process is ideal for using scrap yarn and oddments.
You’ll find yourself working several at a time!
