Description
Jane Slicer-Smith is well known for her stylish swagger and swing coats. To knit Miters into swagger styles, Jane approached Miter Squares as diamonds, combining decreases and increases to achieve her garment shaping. With each subsequent design, Jane manipulated Miters, working waist down, waist up, plus reducing the needle sizes to support the shoulders with a firmer tension. At the same time Jane has played with stripes and solids to create argyle-like patterning. Follow Jane’s design journey while looking at constructing garments almost totally from Miters. The class includes a knitted sample in Miters, begun as homework before the class. This 2-hour class is semi-lecture with a knitted swatch with full instructions that can be completed after the class.
Special skills or knowledge needed to take this class:
Class is for confident stockinette knitters who are familiar with simple decreases.
