Jan 8, 4:00-6:00pm CST
This class introduces hand spinners and felters to drum carders: what they are, how they work, and how to get the desired results. You will also learn what separates drum carding from other types of fiber preparation.
Class sessions will be recorded and remain accessible online to registered students of the class for 14 days following the event.

In this two-hour demonstration-style class, you will learn how drum carders work and why they function the way they do. You will see how fiber is fed into the carder and transfers onto the big drum, where the magic happens.
Learn about the two most common operator errors and how to avoid them. Discover the differences between woolen and semi-worsted carding. Explore the many tools that can make drum carding more efficient.
You’ll leave class with a more complete understanding of the essential role that carding in general and drum-carding in particular can play in spinning and felting success and pleasure.
