Putting time into making a beautiful shawl with gorgeous fiber is a wonderful pleasure. Trying to wear the finished shawl but feeling unable to make it work makes your heart sink. Avoid this unnecessary outcome by learning to engage with your knitwear in new ways so that every time you style your shawl you extend your creative process.

We’ll start with the idea that when we wear clothes — including knitwear — we create a visual composition that leads the eye of a viewer as the lines in a painting do. Indeed, every time you choose to wear a shawl, you have a design opportunity.

Laura will demonstrate a process of design-analysis and a method for creative play that helps you to exploit the characteristics of your specific shawls — shape, scale and dimensions, stitch pattern and color — to construct intentional, highly personal, compositions on your body. These compositions are comfortable and stable, display the knitting, and make you look great in exactly the way you want.
