A virtual class with Jennifer Stern

July 9, 5:00-7:00pm & July 10, 5:00-7:00pm CDT

Let’s build a second layer into our wardrobe — the Cross-Over Cardi. This sewn cardigan used a ‘sweater-knit’ from the fabric store and is a speedy alternative to knitting or crocheting one.

Class sessions will be recorded and remain accessible online to registered students of the class for 4 weeks following the event.

Description

Cardigans are one of the essential pieces that can tie an outfit together. This cardigan is made from light-weight sweater knit or lace and it can be worn 4 ways!
• Buttoned up at the hem to create a surplice-style layer
• Open so the elongated edges at the center front flow down, lengthening the line of the torso
• Tied with a matching sash
• Overlapped and belted for a bit more tailored look.

Jennifer will show you how to work with light-weight knit and lace fabrics. During the first class, you will learn how to adjust the pattern pieces for a perfect fit and get tips for cutting the fabrics easily and accurately. Next, she will show you how to sew the cardi together with a sewing machine or serger. The last class will focus on finishing all the edges and adding buttons that are both decorative and functional!

Imagine this in different fabrications for versatility in extending your wardrobe. Pair the Cross-Over Cardi with the Anna Dress you made during June’s Stitches at Home!

Made a Cardi!

This class did not disappoint. I've taken several classes from Jen Stern and in each one I've made a garment that fit well and I've worn. This class was no exception. I made a really fun cardi that matches the dress I made in one of her earlier classes. The bonus to taking Jen's classes is that you not only learn how to make the garment, but you learn so many tips and tricks that can be applied to all garment making. It's great. I've done all the classes virtually and Jen does a wonderful job on line. Maybe someday I'll take a class from her in person!! Highly Recommend.
