In Austria and the Bavarian region of Germany, traditional knit garments featured intricate patterns made with twisted knit stitches traveling across a purled background. André will guide you through the process and structure of the Bavarian Twisted Stitch technique. Learn to read the older Bavarian charts and follow modern versions as you knit your own twist-stitch samples.
Special skills or knowledge needed to take this class:
How to work in the round with double-pointed needles, two circulars, or the Magic Loop technique. Previous experience in cable knitting is helpful.
NOTE: Experience in the Portuguese style of knitting is not required.
__A circular needle 3.5 to 4 mm / US 4 to 6 (to knit in magic loop) OR 2 circulars or dpns, if preferred
__50 gr of sport- or dk- weight yarn (use light colors that will show the stitches)
__Knitting Basics: Sharp scissors, Notebook, Pen or pencil with eraser, Stitch markers, Tapestry needles (large and small), Tape measure, Small calculator, Needles and crochet hooks of various sizes
