Traditionally crochet raglans were worked from the hem to neck in pieces — back, front(s), and sleeves — then sewn together afterwards. Working from the top down, however, means you can crochet the raglan yoke as a single piece to avoid the seaming, and you can try it on as you go.

Lily shows you how to plan and crochet a top-down raglan:
• Learn how to do this using different stitches.
• Chart out the shaping to keep track of where you are at all times.
• Ensure for a perfect fit every time.

You’ll learn lots and come away with a miniature sample or two to whet your appetite.

Special skills or knowledge needed to take this class:
Have made garments before. Have good, basic working knowledge of drafting standard patterns or converting measurements into stitches and rows using gauge. Be comfortable with stitch charts.

Excellent Instruction

While I thought we might be tackling the Mesa, shown on the class description page, I found the class extremely informative in explaining how to arrive at the stitch counts needed to accomplish a bespoken top-down raglan. I understand the construction and ratios needed to design my own now, and that's wonderful.

Awesome Class

Lily really knows how to break things down so they are very easy to understand. She is quick to help if you are stuck during any part of the class. She is an excellent teacher! I have already made almost the complete top half of my own sweater!
