Wool Applique Basics: Pincushion

Learn the basics of whipstitch wool appliqué while making a pin cushion.

Join Catherine to learn the basics of beautiful whipstitch wool appliqué while stitching the top of a useful pincushion. The class will include lots of tips and tricks for future projects. You cannot expect to finish the piece in the two-hour class, but Catherine will discuss adding embroidery stitches as embellishment and how to finish your square into a pincushion after all your stitching is done.

There is an optional $25 kit for this class.

The kit will include hand dyed wool for front and back of pincushion, matching wool threads for appliqué, 2 x #24 chenille needles, freezer paper, and full-color pattern.
Note: Due to time and shipping constraints, kits are not available to people living outside the United States.

Felted wool:
• 6″ square for back of pincushion
• 6″ square black
• 5″ squares blue, pink, and green
• 2″ square yellow
• Matching wool thread for appliqué e.g. Ellana from Wonderfil
• #24 chenille needle
• Freezer paper
AND
• Pencil
• Scissors for paper
• Fabric and thread
• Basting thread
• Small pins.
To finish pincushion after class:
• Embroidery threads
• Black sewing thread
• Stuffing (crushed walnut shells or poly-fil type)

No pre-class work required.
