We will work with a few different short row techniques and what the differences are. We will talk about the body, body shape, placement of short rows and how to use them in direction of knitting, details in fabric, shape of design and creative inserts.

Description

For this class we will look at short rows, how they change the shape of fabric, where to place them and how to use them for fit and graphic architecture.

Special skills or knowledge needed to take this class
Must know basic knitting techniques.

Supply List
• DK or thicker yarns
• Matching needles to yarn
• An assortment of additional yarns to work in combination with swatches as multi colors, shaded or textures.
• Knitting Basics: Sharp scissors, Notebook, Pen or pencil with eraser, Stitch markers, Tapestry needles (large and small), Tape measure, Small calculator, Needles and crochet hooks of various sizes

Even though I use short rows very simply, Barry Klein's short class was very helpful--as was his well written and illustrated handout. He is a knowledgeable, kind, patient and friendly instructor.

The only suggestions I have are administrative: Stitches, provide screens/overhead projectors in class rooms and if a class requires homework that it is prominently noted on the class description and confirmation.

I’ve been knitting for over 50 years and still this class was so worth taking! Barry Klein is a wonderful teacher - easy going and warm and makes a kinda complicated skill seem so easy! Left the class excited to try short rows with confidence!
