Description

Jenn says, “When go to my closet, I can pull out a few things that I wish I had more of: my favorite True Religion Jeans, a knit top from Banana Republic that I found on a weekend trip to the outlets in Vermont, and my favorite Mossimo Tank Top that Target has discontinued. I’m sure you have things in your closet that you wish you had more than one of, too. Or, maybe the fit isn’t as perfect as it once was… or worse, maybe your favorite tee has a stain that you can’t get out.”

Learn Jenn’s basic method and her tips and tricks for making a rub-off. Learn which garments and fabrics are easiest to work with. We’ll start with something simple like a tank top or basic skirt (your choice). For these garments, you use the paper method of rubbing-off a garment.

Then we’ll work with a garment that has more details like sleeves and darts. To accurately trace these elements, you’ll use the fabric method and pin muslin (or Pattern Ease, Jenn’s preference) to the garment. Choose a favorite top with sleeves and a dart to work with in class.

Jenn will also demonstrate how to rub-off a pair of shorts. The class kit includes a workbook that with illustrated, step-by-step instructions for a variety of garments, so you’ll leave class with the tools to tackle almost any garment in your closet!

Controlled chaos

Jen’s classes are a little crazy, winging it kind of fun. If you want a lot of structure and lecture, do not take! But Jen is very knowledgeable about sewing and adaptive as she helps each student get the results the want from the class. You just have to know what to ask.

Great concepts

The course was long, and I think would be better suited for less time. The concepts are pretty straight forward and the teacher helped everyone in the class. With the mask mandate it would have been nice for teacher to have a microphone so could hear more easily. No water in classroom, needed larger tables so would not have to work on floor. Teacher is energetic and informative but it would have been nice to go by extensive handout had printed off, and to have overview of what we would be doing as kind of thrown in to figure things out. Maybe a smaller class would have helped.

Such a great class

Jennifer taught us SO much in this class! Not just how to do a rub-off, but also how to adjust our patterns, how to work with different kinds of fabrics, how to dal with problems and generally how clothes are constructed. A really wonderful, interesting day!

Delightful and Educational

I learned so much in this class. Everything and more than I expected. Jennifer's enthusiasm is infectious. I haven't made my clothes in years and now I wonder why, especially having learn the Rub Off Method to duplicate my favorites. I know my Grandmother was smiling in Heaven at us. Thanks for another great learning experience. ~monnah
