Description
De-mystify the drum carders as you learn hands-on about semi-worsted and woolen batts. Learn different techniques to create an art batt, how to prepare batts for spinning sock yarn, and how to add silk or bamboo into woolen batts.Practice removing fiber from the teeth, both as rolags and as pencil-sized sliver drawn through a diz. An ambitious goal of 5 batts produced during class means that after class you will have ample carded fiber for spinning samples and small projects.
All carding and blending will be done on Clemes & Clemes Elite Series Drum Carders with each student using their own electric carder. All materials, carders, and tools will be provided by the instructors.
Special skills or knowledge needed to take this class
Working knowledge and some experience with a drum carder is preferred.
A $45 materials fee will be collected by your instructor during class. Correct change is appreciated.
The fee includes all fiber used in class and use of all equipment.
Supply List
