Description

Do you have to look up instructions for Kitchener stitch every time you have to work it? Learn to invisibly join sections of knitting having live stitches, and memorize how to do it by using economized moves and by training your eyes and fingers to work together.

We’ll work the technique in stockinette stitch first, then proceed to garter stitch, and then to ribbing. When you become comfortable, we’ll look at samples of existing patterns for opportunities to refine your knitting by swapping Kitchener for other joins.

Imagine being able to take a phone call while grafting!

Special skills or knowledge needed to take this class
Basics knitting skills; it is not necessary that you have ever tried Kitchener.

Supply List
• Smooth, multi-ply, worsted-weight yarn from your stash in a color light enough to see well. No single-ply, splitty, or fuzzy yarns, please.
• Gauge and needle size are not critical for class work. Select needles appropriate for the yarn you choose; circulars or straights (on the third ribbed swatch, a circular needle is preferred). Three sets of needles are required, as they will be holding live stitches in your homework swatches.
• A blunt-tip tapestry needle.

Limited pre-class work required.

Love Lorilee

Her classes are always excellent. She is very thorough, gives easy to understand instructions and even develops easy ways to remember. Love that she repeats what she says (to truly retain something, you need to hear/see it 7 times). All around fun class.

Kitchener - Grafting Made Easy and Understandable

Lorilee Beltman presented this technique in a very easy to understand way. I have a picture of how to do the Kitchener stitch on my phone which I stare at whenever I use this stitch-usually with messy results. Now I hear Lorilee's words as I complete this stitch. She made it very clear and understandable. Teaching us to graft in just ONE situation in the allotted time would have been a amazing, but we learned how to Kitchener in Stockinette, Garter and Ribbing. Great Class!!!! Thank you Lorilee!

Kitchener, easier than you think

Before taking this class, I had many experiences with Kitchener on Stockinette but I learned much more about grafting in this excellent class. I walked away quite satisfied with having to take the class. The instructor is extremely knowledgeable and patient; an outstanding teacher. If you haven't taken a Lorilee Beltman class, you should. Take any of her classes b/c she's so good of a teacher that you will learn something new.
