Description
Do you have to look up instructions for Kitchener stitch every time you have to work it? Learn to invisibly join sections of knitting having live stitches, and memorize how to do it by using economized moves and by training your eyes and fingers to work together.
We’ll work the technique in stockinette stitch first, then proceed to garter stitch, and then to ribbing. When you become comfortable, we’ll look at samples of existing patterns for opportunities to refine your knitting by swapping Kitchener for other joins.
Imagine being able to take a phone call while grafting!
Special skills or knowledge needed to take this class
Basics knitting skills; it is not necessary that you have ever tried Kitchener.
Supply List
• Smooth, multi-ply, worsted-weight yarn from your stash in a color light enough to see well. No single-ply, splitty, or fuzzy yarns, please.
• Gauge and needle size are not critical for class work. Select needles appropriate for the yarn you choose; circulars or straights (on the third ribbed swatch, a circular needle is preferred). Three sets of needles are required, as they will be holding live stitches in your homework swatches.
• A blunt-tip tapestry needle.
Limited pre-class work required.
