An in-person class with Lily Chin

Mar 2, 1:30-4:30pm

Crochet this multi-directional sweater spontaneously without a whole lot of pre-planning. Versatile and easy, this sweater construction allows for lots of options and design elements.

NEWS stands for North, East, West, South. This multi-directional garment is formulaic and requires no particular pattern. Each section builds on the previous one.

Start with a front and back panel, pick up to build the sides up sideways. Work until it is wide enough. Try it on every step of the way to ensure fit. Continue with sleeves, if desired. Work the sleeves until they are long enough. Do different patterned stitches in each section without worrying about matching gauges. Use up scrap yarn and oddments in the process.

From the school of “divide and conquer” or one bite at a time — this construction is so addictive and spontaneous and fun that you may find yourself working several at a time!

A great class

Learned a lot. Lily shared a lot of tips for making a sweater come out how you wanted. Can't wait to start my next sweater.

Exciting, fast-paced, and fun

This class was fun and fast-paced. A lot was covered in the 2 hour class. We each worked up a tiny version of the NEWS sweater in class to practice the technique. I left the class with my mind swirling with ideas for several versions of the sweater. I look forward to taking other classes from Lily in the future.
